Our grants policy

Our grantmaking is focused on achieving these four aims:

  • ensuring that palliative care is integrated into the care and treatment of people with HIV/AIDS, cancer and other life-limiting illnesses in sub-Saharan Africa
  • ensuring that refugees and people seeking asylum in the UK are treated with fairness, humanity and in accordance with international law
  • promoting fair treatment and better futures for the most vulnerable people in the criminal justice system
  • promoting the protection of civilians during and after conflict by bringing an end to the use of cluster munitions in warfare.

How do we make our grants?

The Fund is a proactive grantmaker. This means that we make grants on an ‘invitation-to-bid' basis or through negotiated partnerships with selected organisations that have the capacity to deliver our vision. Projects are rigorously assessed against our strategic objectives and, to maximise impact, are monitored and evaluated throughout.

Please note that applications for grants are by invitation only.

Other requests for funding

As a proactive grantmaker, providing grants on invitation-to-bid basis, we regret that we are unable to accept any other requests for funding.

The demand for funds is always greater than the money available, and we believe that we can help more people by distributing grants to organisations that have the capacity to deliver our objectives.

Please do not submit unsolicited funding proposals.
